Découpage –from the French word découper, meaning to cut out—is a type of art form that involves pasting cut-outs to an object and then covering them with several coats of varnish or lacquer. This is a wonderful way to be arty with great results. You can play around with different ideas to find your own unique style and once you’ve mastered the basics you can go on to refreshing photo frames, plates, boxes, dishes, trays that are sitting in a cupboard gathering dust!. It’s also super relaxing, satisfying and slightly addictive!
About the Class
During this four-hour workshop you’ll select papers from Gabriela’s extensive collection to transform a glass plate or a tray (your choice!) through decoupage. No experience is necessary to take part in this relaxed, informal class which is suitable for adults and teens.
All materials included.
What you learn
You will be guided through the design process and learn all the tricks involved in applying layers of thin paper to either glass or wood depending on the item you choose to work on.
What you make:
You will take home either a glass dish or a wooden tray. Both items are functional and can be used as normal since they will be sealed with a waterproof varnish.
Please note that if you have learned decoupage on either glass or wood before (at one of Gabriela’s classes or elsewhere), by taking part in this class you will be able to experiment with a different technique.
All materials, plus tea, coffee and home made cake.
